For years, you’ve heard how amazingly creative and talented you are. And for years, you’ve shrugged off the idea of pursuing your creative talents and abilities. Today that changes. In your haste to act on your decision, you came across a company with products in several categories for people like you.

For some creatives, artistry is second nature. For others, the process is more thought out. Whichever side of the spectrum you’re on, how great would it be if you could go to one location, tell them what you want, and get all the information and products you need? What if there was something like a blacksmith, but for artists?
In an exercise in branding and catalog design, I created a spring collection for the conceptual creative resource & supply company called Ground Level Supply Co. This catalog aims at emerging artists who need help to get started.
When developing this concept, I thought it was essential to cater to the needs of hesitant creatives. I recognize that some people feel a sense of intimidation from the magnitude of the creative journey, which can create a wall between them and their goals. I conceptualized Ground Level Supply Co to help break down that wall.

With this catalog, the goal was to meet those creatives at the foot of their needs. Before I let them jump down the rabbit hole of researching, acquiring, and using tools they may or may not need, I wanted to catch them at the genesis of their process.

Once I decided on the products for this collection, I displayed them in a catalog designed with minimalism and boldness in mind. A key aesthetic for the brand is using borders to separate the focus content from the supporting content, giving it a canvas-like feel. Bold, saturated display pages provide context and contrast to the product pages.

These products, which include single-color sketchbooks/journals, image- and texture-based sketchbooks/journals, and multi-color, angled pens, promote creative thinking and exploration.
