You’ve decided to step out on faith and change careers. Why? Because you’ve had enough of the mundane. Your typical day-to-day wasn’t as fulfilling as you hoped it would be, and there weren’t any signs of that lack of fulfillment improving in the future. It was time for a change. Luckily, just a last week, you think you might’ve come across your next step.

Over the past few years, BNO, a creative agency based out of New Jersey, has wholly managed and directed Verizon’s recruitment marketing and strategy on its careers channels. Given the evolving landscape and BNO’s track record of helping Verizon increase impressions and engagement with their 1.2M LinkedIn followers, Verizon entrusted BNO with growing the multinational brand’s presence across other platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
During my time as a Freelance Graphic Designer with BNO, I assisted the creative team in producing and conceptualizing organic social media content to help increase engagement on Verizon’s Careers social media channels and direct potential hires to new career opportunities.
Across its platforms, Verizon has had a relatively consistent rhythm of posting content. However, toward the latter third of 2021, Verizon began increasing the flow of content to its careers platforms. Along with producing more of the same content we were familiar with, Verizon tasked us with developing more engaging content that utilized more features available on each platform.

The challenge of creating new and exciting content within strict boundaries led us to some fun discoveries about the problem as a whole. In crafting new content ideas, we found ourselves appealing to the wants, needs, and concerns of different demographics as they related to the platform. Overwhelmingly, that meant thinking of questions relevant to job seekers, providing tips for career success, and showing how much Verizon cares about its employees (no matter where they fit in).

The result was a plethora of new and unique content, ranging from Instagram story polls encouraging job seekers to choose their career adventure to motion-based posts highlighting the many benefits Verizon employees enjoy. I even had the pleasure of developing a post series highlighting notable black figures as part of the Verizon Careers Black History Month campaign.

Across all platforms, we helped Verizon exceed expectations for engagement and impressions, most notably for the content directed toward young adults.
